SEPTEMBER 1998 “Hooray for Hollywood: two interpretations by Adele Ganny and her daughter Joan” Laterna Magica, Helsinki, Finland
Hollywood 1950s and 1970s as interpreted by my mother and myself, respectively. My work focused on images from my unpublished book Frigid Air: a book of famous people and their refrigerators. Images included directors Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Morrissey, poets Charles Bukowski and Lawrence Ferlinghetti, actress Ronee Blakley, jazz singer Carmen McRae, and more. My mother, once a glamour photographer in Hollywood, took portraits of ordinary people who were desperately trying to be famous and had no chance in the world.

Unfortunately, the exhibition was shut down following the terrorist attacks on Friday evening, September 13.

This progressive theatre company invited me to preside over an epilogue on the closing night of this provocative production in the Vondel Bunker. For the events at the Bellevue theatre, I did a reading and Q & A session at the closing party, in the room where my exhibition of Bukowski portraits was displayed.
